Help the right local customers find you
A cafe on the High Street, a salon in Godmanchester and an electrician covering Brampton and Buckden all need slightly different ways to reach customers. The starting point is the same: make it easy to see what you offer, where you work and how to get in touch.
This guide brings together our free directory, Google's business profiles and local organisations worth checking. Some are free; others involve membership or a levy. Pick the ones your customers actually use.
Add a free listing to HuntingdonDirectory.uk
HuntingdonDirectory.uk is an independently published directory for Huntingdon and the surrounding villages. Standard listings are free and give your business its own page with a description, contact details, a website link and a photo or logo. Search for your business first: if it is already listed, use the edit option on its page rather than submitting again. New submissions are reviewed by our team before they go live.
Choose the area you really serve
Pick your real base, then describe the places you cover. A gardener based in Hartford who also works in the Hemingfords should say so, rather than inventing an address in each village. Use the district-wide option only if you genuinely work across the area, and think about which address details you are happy to publish if you work from home.
Set up your Google Business Profile
An eligible Google Business Profile is free and can show you in Google Search and Maps. Keep your name, phone number, website and service area consistent between Google and your directory listing. Service-area businesses working from home can hide their address by following Google's guidance.
Town-centre businesses: talk to the BID
BID Huntingdon, behind the Discover Huntingdon website, promotes the town centre, runs events and works on the trading environment, funded by a levy on eligible businesses. If you trade in the centre, ask how to appear on its shopping and visitor pages.
Business support and networking
Huntingdonshire District Council's business pages cover premises, licensing and support, and its economic development team offers tailored advice. For networking and training across the county, Cambridgeshire Chamber of Commerce is a membership option worth comparing.
Free listings and optional Featured promotion
A free Standard listing needs no upgrade. Our optional FastTrack + Featured offer adds priority review and more prominent placement within this directory. Paid placement here is not a position in Google, and no listing guarantees enquiries, so keep track of how customers actually find you and update your details whenever they change.
